Kambo Frog Venom HarvestĀ

9/2/2015

"This is the full process of harvesting Kambo Frog venom and and putting venom onto carved & sanded paddle-board for storage and transport. This was done in Peruvian Amazon Rainforest about two hours out of Iquitos. The white pasty film that is scraped off the frog is whats used as medicine. The frogs are considered sacred and are not harmed in the process. You'll see this frog getting poked in the nose and but during... This is not hurting it, it is to stress the critter so it secretes more venom. Once harvested it is safely released."

Ahh...Aloe-viating

I guess I was a little overzealous when I had some really tasty food the other night. The top of my mouth was scalded and really sensitive after I ignored the scorching heat of the freshly prepared dish; choosing to eat it at its hottest (and freshest)...It was so delicious...

That night I could barely brush my teeth because the toothpaste would trigger the stinging. I also noticed that the flesh on the inside of my mouth was peeling. The only thing I could somewhat appreciate was cold water. For lunch the next day I had been really looking forward to eating the freshly picked hot peppers my mom's friend gave us from her garden. However considering the pain I was in I thought I'd miss out on the batch altogether, expecting to be healing for days.

Then I remembered the aloe vera plant flourishing in my parent's backyard and an idea popped into my head.

I took a leaf from the plant, peeled off the top to get to the fleshy center and applied  it to my upper palate; using it as a kind of healing band-aid. Immediately the stinging subsided and after a few minutes it vanished altogether. I kept the leaf in my mouth for at least 10 minutes and continued to use fresh pieces around other sensitive spots for good measure.

I was still careful not to have spice or anything hot in temperature that day, to allow the healing to take place. I'm sure I cut down the healing period drastically because only a day later, here I am typing up this post while (gingerly this time) enjoying a hot dish I made, filled with the spicy peppers I thought I'd miss out on :)

Breathing is an essential part of our existence. Just like we should clean out the crevices and tight corners of our homes, the neti-pot helps us clean out our nasal cavities. Often times the nasal cavities get overlooked until they get clogged from sinus congestion, colds, or allergies. The nets-pot helps flush out bacteria and unwanted residue residing in the nasal passageways. I use warm distilled water mixed with himalayan salt in my neti-pot solution. The solution is poured out of the spout, into one nostril and runs out through the other nostril. Give it a try!

Coconut oil has been demonized in the past due to it's high saturated fat levels.  What researchers are slowly finding is that not all saturated fats are 'created equal'. Coconut oil contains mostly Medium Chain Triglycerides which are metabolized by the body differently that other saturated fats. Coconut oil also contains lauric acid, caprice acid, and caprylic acid containing antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-fungal, and antibacterial properties. Coconut oil has also been used in recipes, topical medicinal treatments, oil-pulling, enemas, and massage (to name a few) for centuries in Ayurveda- India's traditional medical system.

Epsom salt soaking was recently introduced to me by my grandfather. After obtaining a nice sized bucket for him to soak his feet in, I decided I’d give it a try myself. I added 3 drops of lavendar oil to the recommended amount of epsom salt in my warm bucket of water, which ended up being a really great addition. Below is a link to a site listing several health benefits from soaking with epsom salts.

UTi remedies

A urinary tract infection is an infection in any part of your urinary system. Women are at a greater risk of these infections, but men are susceptible as well. Antibiotics are often prescribed to eliminate the infection.

When I can, I often opt to try out the natural remedies before taking antibiotics. I am not opposed to taking antibiotics, but I am very wary of the side effects of frequent usage.

Some women so frequently get UTI’s they are put on a daily low dosage of an antibiotic to avoid future infections. To me, this should be avoided at all costs. I will list the natural remedies that work for me to help prevent urinary tract infections, and in my case, have cured painful infections for me in the past.

1) Coriander powder in hot water
-2 teaspoons of coriander powder in 1 1/2 cups of hot water

2) MMS-Miracle Mineral Supplement

*Note: There is a lot of controversy surrounding MMS. Do you’re own research and gather many opinions surrounding any concerns.
